ROME 2019
Maverik Lacrosse
Project Background
The ROME Men’s Lacrosse padding line is one of Maverik’s top-tier padding line offerings, including gloves, arm guards, and shoulder pads. These pads are critical in keeping a player safe on the field while allowing them to be mobile.
Our team set our to re-define the brand language of the ROME line for the 2019 season with the hero being a new type of protective material we called E-Form.
Personal Contribution
As an ID intern, my role was to work along side the in-house design and development team to re-define the functionality, form, and fit of the next generation ROME line.
My contributions included early sketch explorations, rough padding prototyping and testing, CAD surface modeling and 3D printing, and 2D tech pack generation for first-run samples.

Fit
Core design principals were developed around the most complicated pad - the glove.
Early form explorations focused on evolving existing ROME brand DNA in a way that celebrated the new breathable and flexible padding material.
I worked with the team to create tech packs to communicate CMF variations for internal team reviews and send to external suppliers for samples.
Semi-flexible molded parts allowed for greater impact dispersion while enabling more control over aesthetic details like patterns and complex surface transitions.
